Walt Disney Presents:

Disney has had a long association with Tv. One of Walt Disney’s first Television shows was “Disneyland”. “Disneyland” was a show about the park of the same name. It gave people an inside look of Walt Disney’s magic kingdom, Disneyland. He hosted the show, which was broadcasted on ABC, which in turn helped fund His Park of the same name.

In the early 1960’s, the show changed names and premise and networks. It was renamed “Walt Disney Presents: The Wonderful World of Color” on NBC. The name change reflected the new availability of color television.

Later on, the series was renamed once more in the 1970’s as “The Wonderful World of Disney”, which it continues to this day on ABC and other Disney-Owned Networks.

Today, Disney Owns many TV Channels, Which include, ESPN, ABC, The Disney Channel, A&E, and Lifetime Under ABC-Disney Television Group.

Walt Disney's Dream of Disneyland

Walt Disney’s Dream

Sitting on a dirty park bench, Walt Disney first dreamed up is first ideas of his own theme park. These ideas eventually lead him to build his own studio theme park.Image result for walt sitting on bench
One of Walt’s first plans was to build ‘Mickey Mouse Park’, right across the animation studio in Burbank on a small lot across the street.

His ideas simply were too big to be held on only a few acres, so he started the search for a bigger area to build his dream of Disneyland.
An orange grove in Anaheim, ca was found and chosen for the magic kingdom. Given its convenient spot, near the highway and on the way to the beach, this was the perfect spot for Walt to build is dream.

Construction started in July 1954, with opening EXACTLY only one year of construction. Given its short timescale, construction had to be fast. They were so short on time that they couldn’t build both bathrooms and water fountains. For this Walt said: "People can drink Coke and Pepsi, but they can't pee in the street."

Disneyland opened on July 17th 1955. Walt finally had his dream realized. A place where families, parents and children, could have fun together. Here is Walt Disney’s dedication Disneyland on opening day:
Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.     - Walt Disney

"Project Florida"

“Project Florida”

The planning for an east coast Disneyland began after the success of Disneyland in California. For his Disney World, he hoped to make it a fully immersive environment for his guests. The thing what Walt struggled with in California was the build-up of  hotels and restaurants right across the street of his park, due to him not buying enough land for his park.

For his Disneyland of the east, he hoped to avoid this problem. In Florida, land was cheaper to buy. He accomplished keeping the prices lower buy using fake company names. Once the news broke of Walt Disney was buying the swamplands, the prices sky rocked.

The project was more than a just a theme park. An experimental prototype city of tomorrow was also planned for his Florida property. Also planned, were hotels, industrial parks, and even an airport on the property.

Plans shifted gears in 1966 when the death of Walt Disney. Ground broke not long after, with the plans to build the magic kingdom, and hotels.

In October 1971, Walt Disney World opened with The Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Contemporary resort and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” - Walt Disney
